Beryl McAlhone & David Stewart (Phaidon)
A very nice graphic design reference book, but at the same time it makes you think and is interesting to read.
So many times these kind of books appear and are great for referencing and idea prompting, but ususally the text that accompanies the imagery is pretty poor and only ever a supporting actor! Not so with this book. The stories and articles are amusing and some of them made me thiunk more than the pictures, whilst others made me think that I am not the only designer that does this and that!
The book itself is about humour and how it is used and the process to produce it in graphic design. It takes you through the whole process, but not really as a ten step guide to being funny! It covers different sectors, old and new applications, pictoral, word play, etc.
As usual, it is another great book from the publishers Phaidon, who seem to know what us designers want to read!
