The first experience most people have had with t-shirt design, depending on their age, may have been from some dark and dirty shop, tucked away in some forgotten corner of the local shopping centre. These t-shirts usually came with some 'amusing' and cheesy catch phrase that would generally be accompanied by some slightly rude image.

However, this was fine, as people had no need for bespoke t-shirt design, they had no knowledge of it, how it was done, by whom, and what it could mean. Clothes were essentially bought from shops...pret a porter!
The world is now a consumer's market and so the UK is a nation of choice for it's consumers. As such, t-shirt design has come to be recognised as an art in it's own right.
Now, if someone wants a t-shirt printed, not only can they, but they have all manner of choice as to how, what t-shirts it can go on, what they can print and who can design it.

Conformity is not necessarily a good thing and so it is important to have the experience to know what rules can be broken and how to approach this.
