FAQs - web site design

Web design questions answered.

Can I buy my domain through you?

We do not resell domain names. We suggest that our clients purchase the domains required themselves to avoid any legal ownership issues in the future.

Do you host sites?

Yes, we have a hosting server for the purpose of building, testing and hosting our client websites. It is located in a state of the art server facility, with 100% guaranteed uptime. We do not resell hosting, we provide bespoke packages based on our client hosting requirements.

Do you provide SEO?

SEO can be an extremely time consuming and costly undertaking. As a service, we do understand the full ins and outs of SEO and how to go about achieving results.

When we build any site, we do build in a good basic SEO friendly structure. If the client wishes to embark on an SEO campaign, we can work at achieving this with them. We do work very closely with one of the best SEO agencies in the UK to help achieve campaign goals for our clients.

What if I already have a site, can you just add or amend the existing site?

We can carry out as much or as little work that you wish. We are here to help you realise your ambitions, no matter what they are. So we can take an existing site and update, modify or expand it. You tell us what you wish to do and we shall plan out the project.

What payment terms do you have?

Our payment terms are immediate (please see our terms and conditions). You can pay by either BACS or cheque. We will work with clients who wish to have an account with us.

What is the build process?

Once the designs have been approved we will then build a master template from the approved design. Once the client has approved this master template, any sub templates would also be built. A master template is a page that has been coded from the approved jpeg file of the design and will be used on most sections of the site. A sub template is created when a section or specific page needs a slightly different layout.

What happens next depends on the type of build the project requires. All of this would be agreed with you client as part of the project planning document that would be created just before the build takes place. It is in this document that we would outline what is to be built by when.

What is the design process and do I receive?

We have design process in place to offer tailored web design solutions, built to your specific requirements. We offer the same design process to all clients. After agreeing costs and initial documentation, we would look to produce a minimum of two initial concepts. We would supply these to you as jpegs. You would then have three rounds of revisions to any one concept to refine, develop and improve.

Where are you located?

We have a studio in Wandsworth Common, which is in South London. Our address is...

Do we need to meet?

It is always beneficial to meet and we aim to have face to face contact with all of our web clients. We aim to forge ongoing relationships, establishing trust, as this gets best results from both parties. This is when you really understand how each other work and so when some of the best work can be done. That said, we can work remotely if necessary!

What kind of costs should I expect?

Costs vary with each project we undertake, as every project has different requirements. We aim to be transparent with our pricing, through every project, so that the client can see just where their budget is being spent and why.

How long will it take?

Every project is different. As a rule of thumb though, if you are looking at a small brochure site we should be able to build this in a week or so. At the other end of the scale, if you are looking for a large e-commerce site with a content management system, blogs, forums, etc, then you are looking at a much longer process as the required functionality is more involved, we are then looking at a month or so, depending on the complexity of the build. At the end of the day, the quicker you can come back to us and the more you can get involved in terms of feedback, the quicker the process will be.

We would, for every project, split the process into stages...Design, Alpha, Beta, Sign off, for example. Each of these stages would be clearly planned so everyone knows what they will receive and by when.

What is the initial process to starting a web project?

All projects are unique and so are handled in the same way. It is this tailored approach that delivers the most appropriate solution.

Firstly we would request you complete one of our questionnaires. These are there to give us a good overview of your requirements as well as to help you think in a clear way about the complete project, its aims and requirements. Once received, we will call you to discuss in person your project in more detail, or arrange a meeting. We would prefer to meet you face to face as there is no substitute to an initial meeting. We can get a much better feeling about the person we are to work with as well as discuss the project in depth. At the end of the day, we really have to be able to work well together!

From there, we would create a site map and functionality map, which we would work with the client to get right before these are signed off. Once we have these documents approved then we can give an accurate quote based on the agreed scope of the brief.
